i’ve started jogging.

well, when i say i’ve started, i really mean i went jogging once on monday. and after 2 years of not jogging, boy do my legs hurt now.

anyway, seeing as it’s summer and i’d quite like to get my legs into shape for when it gets too hot to wear jeans… i thought perhaps i’d start on some sort of exercise regime. it was probably also partly motivated by the fact that i was in topshop looking for clothes to buy, and it was a struggle looking for jeans i could fit into (i hate skinny jeans, they are the spawn of the devil) because all the dresses were too short to be be worn without leggings (which i loathe) unless unless i was willing to show my legs off.

it wasn’t that difficult on monday, and to be fair i do cycle around a bit to get to places here and there (not all the time, but sometimes), so i might really begin on a jogging schedule. on the other hand, while i’d love to get started on this schedule straightaway and run again this evening, my quadriceps are aching like crazy. i guess i should just stretch more and grit my teeth through the pain.

in other news, i’ve also begun to keep a food diary + s*bomb regime. although the bottle says take 2 before 10am and 2 before 3pm, i’ve only taken 1 a day so far. i’m not sure if i’d increase my intake, but i’ll probably stop at 2 a day, max. through the food diary, i realise i eat when the social situation ‘tells’ me to, i.e. if i’m out for lunch with friends, i eat because it’s expected, not because i’m particularly hungry. i also snack when there are snacks around.

so, i guess the big changes in my diet has to be:

  • even if it’s a social situation, controlling the portions that i eat. and either eat less and get dessert, or no dessert at all.

  • not to snack when there are snacks around. or change to healthier snacks like carrot sticks. or limit myself to one or two handfuls only

problem is, though, i’m a sociable type, and i can’t do the lying thing because i know how stupid it sounds and how unbelievable it really is. i mean, people see through it all the time. i see through it when people try it on me while we’re out for a meal, so i know how it is. maybe i’ll just have to stick to salads or big-volume-but-low-calorie foods.

i’m not trying to be superskinny or anything, but i’d really like to get slimmer/more toned/fitter. there’s no good time to start, and no bad time to start either, so i guess now’s as good a time as any. hopefully i’ll see results in about a month.
